The Bark­hau­sen Insti­tut con­ducts rese­arch on the latest hard­ware, soft­ware and com­mu­nic­a­tion tech­no­lo­gies and demon­stra­tes their poten­tial app­lic­a­tion in tomor­row’s soci­ety. Our mis­sion is to build a flex­ible and trust­worthy IoT plat­form based on reli­able elec­tron­ics and secure com­mu­nic­a­tion meth­ods.

Pro­ject Man­ager, full- or part-time (m/f/d)

Working field:

  • You will sup­port the BI rese­arch groups in the man­age­ment of rese­arch pro­jects from the idea to the com­ple­tion; this also means that you will be in charge of pro­ject con­trol, mon­it­or­ing and report­ing.
  • You will coor­din­ate exter­nal pro­ject part­ners; in par­tic­u­lar, this means you will estab­lish and main­tain rela­tion­ships with fund­ing agen­cies and natio­nal and inter­na­tio­nal part­ners (also from indus­try).
  • You will sup­port our sci­ent­ists in admin­is­trat­ive and organ­iz­a­tio­nal issues rela­ted to the pro­jects.


  • You have suc­cess­fully com­ple­ted a degree, pre­fer­ably (but not neces­sar­ily) in engin­eer­ing.
  • You enjoy man­aging pro­jects and you have the abil­ity to keep dif­fer­ent balls in the air.
  • Our team is inter­na­tio­nal: strong know­ledge of Eng­lish will help in inter­nal and exter­nal com­mu­nic­a­tion.
  • Good Ger­man skills will help with admin­is­trat­ive tasks.
  • You work inde­pend­ently and take respons­ib­il­ity for the suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of pro­jects.
  • It can be help­ful if you have already had exper­i­ence in pro­ject man­age­ment in a sci­ent­i­fic con­text, e.g. at a uni­ver­sity or non-uni­ver­sity rese­arch insti­tu­tion – but it is not a must.
