The Insti­tute of Radi­ation Phys­ics con­ducts research for states of mat­ter under extreme con­di­tions and in very small dimen­sions.

As part of the Insti­tute, the Depart­ment HIBEF at the European XFEL in Schene­feld (Ham­burg) invites applic­a­tions as Laserin­genieur (f/m/d). The pos­i­tion will be avail­able from 1 May 2023.

Laser engin­eer (f/m/d)

Working field:

The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate (f/m/d) will be invol­ved in the main­t­a­nace and oper­a­tion of the HiBEF ReLaX 300 TW Ti:Sap­phire and DIPOLE100-X laser sys­tems. This inclu­des
  • Beam trans­port, opto- mech­an­ical engin­eer­ing, elec­tro-optic engin­eer­ing, con­trols and inter­fa­cing, ven­dor com­mu­nic­a­tion, labor­at­ory pre­par­a­tion, laser install­a­tion and com­mis­sion­ing, dia­gnostics devel­op­ment, rou­tine main­ten­ance and oper­a­tions for XFEL-user exper­i­ments with hig­hest reli­ab­il­ity

Requirements:

  • Bach­elor´s or Mas­ter´s degree or equi­val­ent in Opti­cal or Laser Phys­ics or Engin­eer­ing
  • Laser opti­cal design, con­struc­tion and pulse dia­gnostics
  • Good com­mu­nic­a­tion skills
  • Abil­ity to work in a col­lab­or­at­ive team
