The Institute for Ion Beam Physics and Materials Research is dedicated to the study of materials and their nanostructures that can be considered for future applications in information technology and are based on electrical, magnetic or optical functionalities.
The Ion Beam Center (IBC) is looking for a
Postdoc (f/m/d) Accelerator Based Neutron Source
The position will be available at the earliest possible date. The employment contract is limited to two years.
Working field:
- Planning and implementation of a beamline and target chamber for an accelerator-based neutron source at the IBC in the frame of the project HiActs
- Planning and implementation of experimental setups with neutron beams at the IBC
- Collaboration with colleagues at HZDR and other HGF centers in the project HiActs
- Scientific collaboration with leading international groups in the field of accelerator based compact neutron sources
Requirements:
- PhD degree in physics, material science or equivalent
- Experience in one or several of the following areas: neutron physics, ion beam physics or material science
- Practical experience with: accelerators, neutron beams, radiation detectors or data acquisition and evaluation
- Very good teamwork skills with ability to collaborate both with experimentalists and theorists
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Readiness to work in an international team
