Working field:

  • Quantum-mechanical simulations of hydrogen isotope separation and transport on 2D layered materials
  • Density functional theory and nuclear quantum effects (tunneling and zero point energy) simulations


  • Completed university studies (Master/Diploma) in the field of chemistry, physics, material science or related areas with excellent grades, either with an experimental chemistry or theoretical chemistry/physics background
  • Knowledge in quantum-mechanical simulations, molecular and solid state (theory) or experience in experimental and analytical work with gas phases and membranes
  • Strong interest in contributing to the diverse ¹²³H research community in an interdisciplinary, multinational research environment
  • Identification with the RTG's core values, namely excellence in research and qualification as well as scientific integrity
  • Advanced written and fluent verbal communication skills in English
  • Programming in python is a plus
