The Chair of Mobility System Planning is located at the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences. It is engaged in research and teaching in the three research fields of Mobility Behavior, Integrated Planning and Traffic Safety, as well as Mobility Modeling and Simulation. Research topics range from conceptual issues of strategic planning to small-scale analyses of specific street spaces. The chair’s methodological focus is on the empirical analysis of mobility behavior, the application of agent-based models and road space analysis, particularly for road safety. Research on walking and cycling as a cross-cutting issue has a high priority in all three fields of research.

At the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, Institute of Transport Planning and Road Traffic, the Chair of Mobility System Planning offers a position as

Research Associate / PhD Student / Postdoc (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting at the earliest possible date. The position is limited to 36 months with the option of extension. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (usually PhD / habilitation thesis). Balancing family and career is an important issue. The position is generally suitable for candidates seeking part-time employment. Please indicate the request in your application.

Working field:

  • support of research projects in the field of agent-based traffic modeling and simulation, e.g. on scenarios of sustainable and active mobility
  • support in teaching of courses and supervision of student research projects
  • support of project acquisition

Requirements:

  • university degree (diploma, master’s degree) and, if applicable, PhD degree (completed or well advanced procedure) in transportation, computer science or related fields
  • experience with transport models and/or simulation tools
  • interest in interdisciplinary research on the analysis and modeling of mobility
  • dedication and enjoyment of independent work as well as the further development of your own skills
  • team spirit and fair and open communication skills
  • very good knowledge of German and English
