Max-Planck-Institut für Molekulare Zellbiologie und Genetik (MPI-CBG)

The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) in Dresden is a world-leading, highly interdisciplinary and international basic research institute. About 500 employees from more than 50 nations currently comprise our staff, half from abroad. The MPI-CBG's research program brings together biologists, chemists, theoretical physicists, mathematicians, and computer scientists to pursue answers to the scientific question "How do cells form tissue?" in a dynamic working environment. The Institute has recently expanded its research vision to include stem cell models, synthetic tissue systems, and organoid models. In many cases, the results of this basic research also provide clues for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer's disease and retinal degeneration. The institute is known for its flat organizational structure, shared resources, equal opportunities and support for families.
