At the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies, the Institute of Romance Studies invites applications for the
Junior Professorship (W1) in Didactics of Romance Languages (French / Italian)
to be filled at the earliest possible date for an initial period of four years. Following a positive interim evaluation, which usually takes place in the fourth year, the employment will be extended to a total of six years. The evaluation procedures are based on mutually agreed evaluation criteria at the start of employment, particularly in the categories of research, academic teaching, academic self-administration and knowledge transfer.
You (m/f/x) will represent the subject area in its breadth in both research and teaching. We would like you to have a focus on the interlinking of theory and practice in the teaching of French and Italian in schools in the field of digital transformative didactics. You are expected to work closely with the Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research (ZLSB) at TUD as well as with a relevant empirical research project on the didactics of Romance languages in order to strengthen this collaboration. We would also like to see you participating in the elective compulsory field School and Education of the MA degree program Digital Humanities. Willingness to work in academic self-administration and to participate in examinations, activities to raise third-party funds and open-mindedness towards cooperation in the existing academic environment of TUD are prerequisites. We look forward to a profile that shows potential connections to the related sciences (via cultural, media, language and/or literature didactics). You are required to provide evidence of your experience in the practical phases of the teacher training program. Mandatory teaching initially amounts to four semester hours per week.
We require a degree in Romance Studies, relevant subject-specific didactic qualifications (usually three years of teaching experience at a school) as well as pedagogical aptitude and a special aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by an outstanding doctorate. The requirements for appointment, the official duties and the administrative status are governed by §§ 64, 65, 69, 72 of the Act on Higher Education Institutions in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG) and the Regulations on Duties and Responsibilities of Institutes of Higher Education (HSDAVO).
If you have any questions, please contact the Dean of the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies and chairman of the appointment committee, Prof. Dr. Christian Prunitsch, tel. +49 351 463-32771; email: christian.prunitsch@tu-dresden.de.
Our Young Professors Program YOU-PROF offers comprehensive, targeted and individually oriented guidance and support during the evaluation phase.
