Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/x)

At the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Department of Forestry, Institute of Silviculture and Forest Protection, the Chair of Silviculture offers a position as

Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting May, 1 2025. The position is limited to July 31, 2027. An extension of the position may be possible based on performance and the availability of funds. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification. Balancing family and career is an important issue. The position is generally suitable for candidates seeking part-time employment. Please indicate the request in your application.

Working field:

  • scientific collaboration in the EU Horizon joint project “Developing precise solutions for climate resilience in agriculture and forestry across the European boreal region (Precilience)” (https://www.precilience.eu)
  • simulation modeling with the “individual-based forest landscape and disturbance model (iLand)” (https://iland-model.org)
  • preparation and evaluation of landscape simulations in hemi-boreal and boreal forests of Europe
  • participation in workshops to develop forest adaptation measures
  • simulation of future forest dynamics and strategies for forest adaptation to climate change
  • exchange with project partners
  • preparation of high-ranking international publications

Requirements:

  • scientific university degree in forest sciences, ecosystem modeling, or a related discipline
  • completed doctorate, preferably in the field of simulation modeling of forest ecosystems
  • expertise and methodological competence in the field of simulation modeling
  • willingness to travel to project meetings, workshops, and conferences outside of Germany
  • teamwork and organizational skills
