At the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the Institute of Construction Materials invites applications for the

Junior Professorship (W1) in Digital Fabrication Technologies in Concrete Construction

to be filled as of April 1, 2025 for an initial period of four years. After a positive interim evaluation, which usually takes place in the fourth year, the employment relationship will be extended to a total of six years. The evaluation procedure is based on mutually agreed evaluation criteria at the start of employment, particularly in the categories of research, academic teaching and academic self-administration.

Working field:

You (m/f/x) will represent the academic field of digital manufacturing technologies in concrete construction with dedication in both research and teaching. The focus of your activities will be on researching digital technologies at the interface between building materials and machinery such as 3D printing with mineral materials, adaptive flow production or automated concreting in complex formwork. Your teaching responsibilities will primarily cover the diploma study program in Civil Engineering, both in-person and through distance learning, and the English-taught Master's program ACCESS. These responsibilities include the contents of the Junior Professorship according to the current study regulations of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Teaching and examination formats are to be offered both in-person and digitally. We expect you to secure third-party funding from federal sources (DFG, BMBF, etc.) and EU funding. Your willingness to cooperate with other chairs in the Faculty of Civil Engineering and other faculties at TUD is essential. Collaboration with non-university research institutions in the vicinity of TUD is desired.

Requirements:

We require a PhD in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Science with a focus on digital manufacturing technologies and concrete construction, completed with outstanding success. We expect significant research experience in this field, evidenced by several publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals. In addition to solid theoretical knowledge, we also expect hands-on experience in digital manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing, robotics, and automation in concrete construction. Experience in university teaching and supervising students and theses is desirable. Your willingness to actively participate in academic self-administration is prerequisite. The requirements for appointment, the official duties and the administrative status are governed by §§ 64, 65, 69, 72 of the Institutions of Higher Education Act in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG) and the Regulations on Duties and Responsibilities of Institutes of Higher Education (HSDAVO).
