Chair (W2) of Vocational Didactics of Social Pedagogy

At the Faculty of Education, Institute of Vocational Education and Vocational Didactics, the

Chair (W2) of Vocational Didactics of Social Pedagogy

is to be filled as of April 1, 2026.

Working field:

The Chair is responsible for training students for the teaching profession at vocational schools in the vocational subject of social pedagogy and for heading the department. You (m/f/x) will be responsible for developing the students' skills that lie at the interface between subject-specific, educational and professional didactic expertise. You will provide inspiration for vocational didactics research with regard to vocational school education processes and selected areas of activity in social pedagogy, and you will support early-career researchers in these fields. In addition, we expect you to participate in the training of students by teaching in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs at the Institute of Social Pedagogy, Social Work and Welfare Science. We also expect you to be willing to network with educational stakeholders in and outside of schools in the region, to work at the Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research (ZLSB) and in the interdisciplinary research networks of TUD, as well as to participate in academic self-administration.

Requirements:

You are a committed, responsible, networked professional who can inspire our students with academic teaching expertise and help shape the profile of our faculty in a trendsetting way through relevant research experience. We further expect research experience in vocational didactics in social pedagogy or in the subject area with an affinity for didactics, as well as experience in acquiring and successfully implementing third-party funded projects. You must have a relevant degree or doctorate as well as corresponding publications. We value an independent and reflective approach to work, even in challenging situations, in order to sustainably ensure quality in teaching, research, and administration. An awareness of diversity and the ability to actively help shape inclusive learning and working environments complete your profile. The requirements for appointment, the official duties and the administrative status are governed by §§ 59, 69, 71 of the Institutions of Higher Education Act in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG) and the Regulations on Duties and Responsibilities of Institutes of Higher Education (HSDAVO).
