The applicants should demonstrate research in intelligent interactive systems or adaptive user interfaces for coaching learners using machine learning. Through coaching self-directed learning with AI support can improve learning behavior and learning outcomes. Focus is on developing ambient intelligent user interfaces to include a conversational paradigm based on multimodal language models for learners attending a degree program in higher education. Experience with diversity of learners having sensory or cognitive needs and AI-based modelling of such user needs for multimodal interaction should be demonstrated as well as demonstrable ability to plan and manage independent research.

DURATION AND SCOPE
Applications are invited for this junior research group that shall start in 2022 or early 2023 with a duration of 24 to 36 months. An extension after a positive evaluation for up to 36 months is possible. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). A junior research group must consist of a junior research group leader and research assistants – depending on the duration of the group and the quality of the research proposal, up to two additional positions for research assistants will be funded by ScaDS.AI. The funding will include traveling expenses as well as consumables. Earliest start of the funding: September 1, 2022.
