Rese­arch Asso­ciate (m/f/x)

The posi­tion is star­ting on Janu­ary 1, 2023. The posi­tion ent­ails 50 % of the full­time wee­kly hours and is limi­ted until Sep­tem­ber 30, 2025. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz-WissZeitVG). Wit­hin the rese­arch pro­ject, the employee has an oppor­tu­nity to sum­ma­rize the results of the pro­ject in a PhD the­sis and get a PhD degree in Inor­ga­nic Che­mi­stry.

Working field:

syn­the­sis and cha­rac­te­ri­za­tion of fle­xi­ble Metal-Orga­nic Frame­works (MOFs). The fur­ther task is the deve­lop­ment of instru­men­ta­tion for in situ time-resol­ved Pow­der X-ray Dif­frac­tion in par­al­lel to the adsorp­tion of gases and vapours in porous MOFs. The instru­men­ta­tion will be com­mis­sio­ned at P23 beam­line of PETRA III syn­chro­tron (DESY, Ham­burg). Wri­ting beam­time app­li­ca­ti­ons, manu­als and ana­ly­sis of the mea­su­red data belong to the task of the rese­arch asso­ciate.


uni­ver­sity degree in che­mi­stry or expe­ri­men­tal phy­sics (Mas­ter or equi­va­lent); good know­ledge in the cha­rac­te­ri­za­tion of porous solids (PXRD, nitro­gen phy­s­i­sorp­tion, SEM, IR, NMR, etc); basic know­ledge in X-ray dif­frac­tion tech­ni­ques, good PC know­ledge, the know­ledge of Python pro­gramming lan­guage and CAD-3D soft­ware is advan­ta­ge­ous; expe­ri­ence in the use of sci­en­ti­fic equip­ment; high self-moti­va­tion; good com­mand of writ­ten and spo­ken Eng­lish; capa­city for team­work and orga­ni­za­tio­nal talent; wil­ling­ness to busi­ness trips.
