The Institute for Ion Beam Physics and Materials Research is dedicated to the study of materials and their nanostructures that can be considered for future applications in information technology and are based on electrical, magnetic or optical functionalities.
The Department of Ion Beam Center is looking for a
Working field:
Your task will be the spatially resolved placement of few or single ions into materials relevant for quantum technology. You will make use of our new unique triple focussed charged particle beam setup to place ions with high spatial resolution into materials relevant for quantum technology. With this device you will be able to accurately place a large variety of ions with a resolution in the few ten nanometer regime. This includes the application of a new detector which is optimized for the detection of single ion implantation events. The implanted atoms and the related defects will be investigated by cathodoluminescence, scanning probe techniques (available in the group) and other methods in collaboration with external and inhouse research groups. Your research on the optimization of ion implantation for the creation of spatially controlled single photon emitters will help to better understand the fundamental building blocks for quantum communication.
