Research Associate (m/f/x)

(subject to personal qualification, employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
At the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Department of Forest Sciences, Institute of International Forestry and Forest Products, the Chair of Tropical and International Forestry offers a position as
Research Associate (m/f/x)
starting as soon as possible. The position is limited for two years and entails 50% of the full-time weekly hours. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG).

Tasks:

  • supporting the chair in the area of teaching
  • opportunity to develop your own research project, which is embedded within the research profile of the chair
  • independent planning and delivery of lectures, seminars, tutorials and field trips in the field of national forest policy and international forest governance
  • setting, supervising and marking examinations, as well as developing modern teaching materials
  • providing academic supervision and assessment of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, as well as advising students as a designated contact person
  • further development of the subject area through your own research project (PhD/Habilitation)
  • active participation in the Institute’s committees, working groups and networks

Requirements:

  • university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Forestry or Political Science with a focus on forestry
  • in-depth knowledge and demonstrable experience with methods and theories of forestry policy and governance
  • practical experience in university teaching as well as in academic research and publishing
  • very good written and spoken German and English
  • a strong willingness to engage actively and continuously with the existing research structures of the chair
  • strong teamwork and communication skills for working in an international team
