Research Associate / PhD Student / PostDoc (m/f/x)

(subject to personal qualification, employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

At the Faculty of Psychology, Institute of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, the Chair of Clinical Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience offers a full-time position as
Research Associate / PhD Student / PostDoc (m/f/x) starting October 1, 2026. The position is limited to 3 years, with the option of extension. The position comprises 75% of the full-time weekly hours for a PhD Student or 100% of the full-time weekly hours for a PostDoc and aims at obtaining further academic qualification (usually PhD / habilitation thesis). The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG).

The Chair focuses on the neural mechanisms underlying socio-affective and socio-cognitive processes, their psychopathological changes, and their plasticity through psychotherapeutic interventions. The Chair is involved in the Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio 393 “Trajectories of Affective Disorders”. As a University of Excellence, TUD offers excellent research opportunities at the Neuroimaging Center, including a 3 Tesla MRI scanner, an MRI-compatible 64-channel EEG and peripheral physiology system, TMS/fNIRS/tFUS/tDCS devices, and a multi-computer lab for behavioral measurements.

Tasks:

  • Study coordination; conducting clinical diagnostic interviews and experimental/neuroscientific assessments; data analysis; and writing scientific publications. Candidates are expressly encouraged and supported in pursuing their own research and publication activities.
  • supervision of student assistants
  • participation in the organization, conception, and delivery of courses in the Bachelor's degree program in Psychology and the Master's degree program in Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy
  • participation in academic self-administration

Requirements:

  • university degree in Psychology or a related field
  • interest in clinical psychological and neuroscientific research questions
  • sound knowledge of statistics, experimental psychology, and clinical diagnostics; previous experience in neuroscientific methods is an advantage
  • very good command of English; very good communication, organizational, and teamwork skills; flexibility regarding working hours; and a professional manner when interacting with study participants
  • knowledge of or willingness to learn programming languages (e.g., MATLAB)
